It’s a story about a trail that connected a community, and a country really, said The Caledon Trailway: Building the Dream author, Diane Allengame.
At one time, railway was the connection, or the series of them. Stations dotted the countryside, and from one you could reach another, traversing the country via the locomotive, watching the countryside pass.
Allengame, along with a team of 10 volunteers, has spent the past two years pulling together information, fact checking submissions and reports, searching archives, council minutes and more to compile a history of Caledon’s trail, complete with the story of its origins and some information about how the trail served past people and cultures as well
