Bolton Rotary has been funding microloans through KIVA over the past few years. Last year we made 258 loans in 25 countries. The default rate for these loans is less than 1%. These loans make life-altering changes to their income capability.
Here is a story about Editha. She is 55 years old, separated mother with two children. She lives in the Western region of Uganda.
She's a hardworking woman who's mostly a farmer. Editha owns a banana and maize plantation as her major source of income. They have been challenged by low yields during the harvest season due to lack of fertilizers. This loan will enable Editha to increase harvest. Crop farmers may use the funding for agricultural inputs such as farm machinery, tools, pesticides, seeds, etc,
This is just one heartwarming story of how our club makes a difference in the world.
