Planning is underway for an annual project that helps children from families experiencing financial difficulties or crisis in Caledon. This fits in nicely with our program Caledon Kids First that supports kids who want to participate in sports or wellness programs.

The 12th annual Shop with a First Responder happens Dec. 1. As part of the initiative, participants experience a morning of shopping, gifts and food while building positive relationships with police officers and firefighters.  We have donated $1000. to this worthy project.

The project is run by Ontario Provincial Police’s Caledon detachment and Caledon Fire and Emergency Services in collaboration with the Town of Caledon and Caledon Community Services.

According to police, the initiative is supported by the Optimist Club of Caledon and relies on community support.

The project was previously known as Shop with a Cop but was renamed last year after it expanded to include firefighters.
